How to Have AI Write Your Daily Agenda Every Morning

Morning sunlight across a neatly prepared daily agenda card, a cup of coffee, small clock and calendar, with organized task tiles laid out in a calm sequence.

The steps below are taken from each vendor’s help pages. We have not run them.

One way to get an AI daily agenda is to switch on a built-in one: in OpenAssistant you toggle a Daily agenda workflow on and it arrives each morning. ChatGPT and Gemini can do the same job from a scheduled prompt.

A good daily agenda answers three questions before you’ve had coffee: where do I need to be, who am I meeting, and what do I owe people today. You need two things: an assistant that can read your calendar, and a way to run the same request on a schedule. This guide shows the steps in:

What to put in your agenda request

Whatever tool you use, the request is what makes the agenda useful. A version you can copy (our wording):

Every weekday at 6:45 AM, look at today’s events on my work calendar. For each one, list the time, length, location or video link, and who’s attending. Flag back-to-back meetings and any meeting with someone outside my company. At the end, list emails from the last 2 days that ask me for something due today. Keep it under 200 words.

Leave out what the tool can’t see. If it isn’t connected to your email, drop the last line.

Option 1: OpenAssistant (built-in daily agenda)

OpenAssistant includes a ready-made daily agenda workflow you switch on, rather than a prompt you write.

  1. Open the Recurring Tasks tab.
  2. Find the daily agenda workflow and toggle it On.

(OpenAssistant)

Shape it by telling it what you want. After it runs, tell your assistant what to change and it applies that next time. OpenAssistant’s examples: “In my daily agenda, highlight anything urgent first,” and “In my daily agenda, include action items at the end.” (OpenAssistant)

Or build your own as a recurring task with a trigger, instructions and an outcome. OpenAssistant’s example: trigger “Every weekday at 6:00 AM,” instructions to review your calendar, prepare an agenda and give background on each meeting, outcome “Send completed agenda to my email inbox.” (OpenAssistant)

Its product page says the agenda can arrive by email, text or in the app, and can go to a whole team. (OpenAssistant) OpenAssistant’s credits article says the Daily Agenda doesn’t use credits, while most other tasks do. (OpenAssistant)

Option 2: ChatGPT scheduled tasks

Who can use it

Scheduled tasks work on Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu. Free accounts can run tasks at most once a day, in a flexible window such as “morning”; exact times need a paid plan. Active task limits: 3 on Free and Go, 5 on Plus, 10 on Business and Edu, 15 on Pro and Enterprise. (OpenAI)

If you used ChatGPT Pulse for morning updates: OpenAI’s June 17, 2026 release notes say Pulse is being retired and suggest asking ChatGPT to schedule a daily briefing instead. (OpenAI release notes)

Step 1: Connect your calendar

Calendar apps are installed under Settings > Plugins: select the calendar app, select Install plugin if shown, then Connect, sign in, and review the permissions. (OpenAI) Some OpenAI pages and older apps say Apps instead of Plugins. (OpenAI) The Outlook calendar app can read your events and availability, for example “What is on my schedule this afternoon?” (OpenAI)

No dedicated OpenAI help article for the Google Calendar app is cited here, so check that it appears in your Plugins list.

Step 2: Create the task

  1. In a chat, paste your agenda request, including when it should run.
  2. ChatGPT confirms the task it created.
  3. Under Settings > Notifications, choose Push, Email, or both. For phone notifications, create the task in the mobile app and allow notifications.

(OpenAI)

Step 3: Manage it

Open Scheduled in the sidebar to edit, pause or delete the task, or click the task’s title in its chat. The Scheduled page may not appear in the desktop app; use the web. A task may pause if it goes unused, or if you archive or delete its chat. (OpenAI)

Option 3: Google Gemini

Gemini offers two routes: a Daily brief it writes on its own, and Schedules you set up yourself.

Route A: the automatic Daily brief

Requirements: 18 or older, in the US, a personal Google Account (not work or school), eligible for Personal Intelligence, Google Workspace apps connected, Memory on, and English. It’s rolling out gradually. Google’s feature table lists Daily brief with Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra, not without a plan. (Google) (Google)

  1. Go to gemini.google.com.
  2. Click Daily brief in the sidebar.
  3. Read the Top of mind section (built from Gmail, Calendar and your chats) and Looking ahead.

Under More below each item are Chat, Mark complete and Dismiss. To turn it off: Settings & help, Personal Intelligence, then turn off Daily brief. (Google)

Route B: your own agenda with Schedules

You need a personal Google Account or a qualifying Workspace account, with Keep Activity on. You can have up to 10 active schedules. (Google)

  1. Connect Gmail and Calendar: on gemini.google.com, click Customize in the sidebar (if you don’t see it, click More first), then Connectors, find the app and click Add. (Google)
  2. Create the schedule: type your agenda request, including when and how often, and click Submit. Gemini replies with a summary of the schedule.
  3. Manage it: open Scheduled in the sidebar. Hover over a schedule and choose More to Pause, Resume or Delete, or click it to edit.

(Google)

On the web, the agenda chat shows as unread; on mobile you get a push notification. Google prepares the content in the hour before delivery, so a meeting added at the last minute may be missing. (Google)

Plan note: Google’s feature table lists Scheduled actions (Schedules) as included with Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra, not without a plan. (Google)

Also: Microsoft 365 Copilot (work accounts)

With a Microsoft Copilot license, you can schedule a prompt you’ve already run in Copilot Chat: hover over it, select Schedule this prompt, choose when and how often, and select Save. Microsoft’s own example is an 8 AM summary of your meetings. Results appear in your Chats list. Up to 10 scheduled prompts. (Microsoft)

Start with OpenAssistant if you want the agenda to come from the same assistant that books your meetings, and without writing a prompt.

Where competitors do better: ChatGPT’s scheduled prompts have a free option, and Gemini’s Daily brief needs no prompt at all if you’re a US personal Google user on a Google AI plan.

Check it yourself

This section is advice for you. We have not run these checks.

Put three sample events on tomorrow’s calendar: an internal 1:1, an external call with a video link, and a back-to-back meeting. Then check the next morning’s agenda:

  1. All three events listed with correct times?
  2. Video link and attendees shown for the external call?
  3. Back-to-back flagged?
  4. Arrived at the time you set?
